I prefer oil, and in this sampler I really let my knowledge shine. Its a far tougher medium, because so much history goes along with its use, but its rich creamy texture make is so worth the effort. This sampler went great as you can see below.......with so little time sample the medium for the first time.
Im refining my explanation with these whiteboard notes to accompany my handouts.
These samplers at Swinton's sell out quickly so sign up today on their website if you want to get in the next one!

Go figure!!!
I teach figure drawing at ACAD. This week my lectures and demos centered around proportion, proper measuring methods as well looking at idealized references like Hale and Loomis. These are some of the drawings at the end of class.
If you are interested in learning how to figure draw better, I will be opening up figure drawing sessions and long poses at my Atelier. It is instructed and It's a great opportunity to put in the necessary time and practice to get good it'll be cheap!

Exquisite Corpse
In my cartooning class, before the break, we played one of my favorite surrealist art games, the Exquisite corpse. I think it is fun to make up names or stories as I look at each. Enjoy.

On with the show
Getting an exhibit ready takes time and effort. I wasn't quite sure what I was going to show at first. I knew I'd include some of the pieces I did while traveling abroad.
I had new paintings inspired by my vacation in Puerto Rico. I wanted to capture the feeling and energy with the bright colours and nature on the island.
I found some frames that fit the drawings fairly well and my helper did a fantastic job framing the work up for me.
I also included some of my favourite images from Italy which allowed me to try out my new photo printer.
I laid the work out at the New Edward gallery along the wall while Eddie and Karen were rolling out a final coat of paint on the gallery walls.
They offered to hang the pieces as I had a lot on my plate and it was late, they did a great job!
Here is the Man, Eddie, in the space looking over the exhibition.
Here is a view with the lights on. I think it was a good amount of work and quite an eclectic collection.
