Second self portraits

I taught my final drawing 1 class at the Alberta College of Art ad Design this year.  I like to start with a self portrait and end on the same note in order to contrast and compare the improvements made through 24+ hrs of learning with me, it tends to be quite a difference. Some drew better from life than from photo even. In my 45 min lesson/demo I did a bunch of notes on the board of things to now and look for when drawing the face and head. I just managed to snap the end of much erasing ad drawing with a white board marker but you get the gist of it.
Below are some of the ones I managed to snap while they worked and a few where you can see the comparison.

Here are even more figure drawings from the past final figure drawing class sessions from this semester. Thats a mouthful I won't try saying repeating quickly and consecutively.

Go figure, more figure drawing class work

My figure drawing class fall semester session has come to an end. I want to share some more of the excellent pictures my students drew in hopes to inspire you too! In no particular order, including some opposite hand drawings (one done by a southpaw), with colours and gloves on and off. Enjoy!

More figures from drawing 1 class today

We were fortunate in my drawing 1 course to have one more day of figure drawing. We did a lot of warm of gestures because the model we had, Karen, is expressive and dynamic in her poses. Here are a few I managed to snap during a brief break.

Focus on the figure

In this figure drawing session I had my students focus on an area of the body that interests them visually and to work with tone and creating form rather than worrying about drawing the entire figure from head to toe.

Drawing a day - Famous dead artists

Every year for the past 3 I have run a campaign to raise funds for the Movember charity.  If you would like to support research and awareness to the growing needs of Men's health go to my campaign here: http://mobro.co/brianbunnybatista

Since I already have a beard because of my halloween costume and an upcoming project and cannot shave and start over from scratch I decided instead to do a drawing a day challenge. For this challenge I am drawing a famous dead artist every day. I am choosing artists who have wicked facial hair as well. Below are some of the ones from the first two weeks in no particular order:
